Boycott will be loving the current test match. Grafting for runs is what he likes. That’s good cricket that is.
Rather than writing about first innings parity, my attention has been drawn though by rumours that England will rest a number of players for the tour of Bangladesh. When Geoff Miller was interviewed by Mike Atherton on Sky yesterday he did everything he could to avoid comitting to anything, but pretty much gave the game away that Strauss will be rested and Cook with captain England.
So, today The Village Cricketer predicts the England side for the first test against Bangladesh:
Alistair Cook *
Joe Denly
Jonathan Trott
Kevin Pietersen
Ian Bell
Michael Carberry
Stephen Davies +
Stuart Broad
Graeme Swann
Ryan Sidebottom
Graham Onions
Feel free to discuss.

I get the impression that Rashid will likely be given a go, to see if he can do something on the subcontinent pitches. They might play two spinners.
England will have the World Cup in the back of their inds too, for the one-day series at least.

Agree with Jake re. Rashid (in for Sideshow). Swann batting at 10, what a lineup!

If Rashid plays then it would have to be at the expense of Carberry. I can’t see them playing in with just two seamers.
